In Q1 in Western Europe, Apple overtook Dell for third spot and grew the highest of all PC Makers while continuing to the lead the tablet market
The Western European Market covers the United Kingdom (U.K.) Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Austria, Ireland, Luxembourg, Monaco, and Liechtenstein.
Looking ahead, Canalys expects sequential growth for Western Europe’s PC market for the remainder of 2023. By 2024, every end-user segment is anticipated to grow double-digits year-on-year as demand recovers and delayed purchases re-emerge.
In the PC market, Apple surprisingly overtook Dell in Q1, growing their market share from 11.3% in 2022 to 14.6% in 2023, the highest growth of any PC maker.
In the tablet market, Apple was the resounding leader growing market share from 41.1% in 2022 to 44.1 % in 2023.
During Apple's Q1 Financial Conference Call on May 4, Apple's CFO Luca Maestri stated that "iPad generated $6.7 billion in revenue, down 13% year-over-year and in line with our expectations. This performance was due to two key factors, a tough compare against the launch of iPad Air powered by the M1 chip in the year ago quarter and headwinds from the macroeconomic environment. The iPad installed base reached a new all-time high in all geographic segments thanks to exceptional customer loyalty and a high number of new customers. In fact, over half of the customers who purchased iPads during the quarter were new to the product."
