According to a new analytical report, Colombia’s Q1 2023 smartphone shipments fell 9% YoY. It’s the worst quarterly volume since Q1 2020. The country’s quarterly shipments were hurt by weakened demand resulting from rising inflation and political uncertainties. Yet Apple doubled their market share in the quarter surpassing Motorola for fourth spot.

During Apple's Financial Conference Call on May 4, Apple's CEO stated that "We set an all-time record for Services and a March quarter record for iPhone. Cook pointed out Mexico and Brazil in Latin America where the set all-time records. Patently Apple posted a report on all of Latin American smartphone shipments on May 13.

Yet Cook failed to mention how well they did in Colombia. According to a new report from Counterpoint that focuses on the Columbian smartphone market, Apple doubled their market share in Q1 2023. Apple inched out Motorola which had been the country's fourth place OEM for some time. Motorola fell from 12% market share in Q1 2022 to 5% in Q1 2023.
