The Apple Original Films Hit 'Ghosted' Broke the Audience Record for its First 2-Day debut beating out past films such as 'Finch' & 'Spirited'
According to a new report today, Skydance’s spy action comedy Ghosted starring Chris Evans and Ana de Armas has become the most watched movie debut to date for Apple TV+. In the film's first two days after dropping on April 21 it pulled in 328,500 viewers according to Samba TV, a television technology company that offers real-time insights and audience analytics.
For perspective, the first 2-day audience beat out other Apple TV+ hits such as Finch at 228,500 (Nov. 2021), Spirited at 174,000 (Nov. 2022), Tetris at 88,000 (March 2023) and My Mind & Me at 78,100 (Nov. 2022).
Samba TV SVP Dallas Lawrence told Deadline that "The star power of Chris Evans and Ana de Armas in Apple TV+’s latest movie Ghosted helped propel the movie to outperform nearly every other Apple TV+ movie premiers in the past year. While I'm definitely not a fan of Seth Rogen, many are and Apple TV+ has debuted the trailer for “Platonic,” the upcoming 10-episode comedy series. The half-hour comedy is set to make its global debut with the first three episodes on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 on Apple TV+.
“Platonic” follows a platonic pair of former best friends approaching midlife (Rogen and Byrne) who reconnect after a long rift. The duo’s friendship becomes all consuming — and destabilizes their lives in a hilarious way.
