Apple's iPhone Dominated the Japanese Market in Q4-22 despite Supply Chain Issues
According to IDC Japan, Apple continued to dominate the Japanese smartphone market share throughout 2022, even with supply chain hurdles it experienced in Q4 with lockdowns and riots at their main Foxconn iPhone plant.
A report from IDC Japan breaks down smartphone shipments in Japan for the fourth quarter and for the entirety of 2022. The data shows that Apple's iPhone continues to be the best-selling product in this market, ahead of competitors such as Sharp, Samsung, and Sony.
While smartphone shipments in Japan were 8.5 million units, a decrease of 16% in Q4, Apple sold 51.9 percent of the devices, or a total of 4.41 million units, followed by Android vendors with 4.1 million units.
The report failed to provide a breakdown of iPhone models that provided Apple with their giant lead in the Japanese market.
