Apple Supplier BOE will have a new OLED Display Plant for Apple Products up and running in Northern Vietnam by 2025
A new supply chain report from Korea this morning reveals that the display module factory that BOE plans to build in Vietnam will be located in Bac Ninh, northern Vietnam. The purpose is to respond to Apple's small and medium-sized display products such as OLED and LCD.
The Elec reports that China's BOE is known to be planning to build a display module factory in Bac Ninh, northern Vietnam. The news that BOE is considering establishing a factory in northern Vietnam was reported on by Reuters earlier this year, but this is the first time that the factory location has been identified.
The module process refers to a process of combining individual parts to drive a panel. If the module process is performed on the panel half-finished product, a display module that can be combined with the finished product is completed.
It is known that BOE is planning to make various small and medium-sized display modules such as organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) and liquid crystal displays (LCDs), which will be supplied to Apple in the Bac Ninh plant, as its main products. BOE's Bac Ninh plant is scheduled to be completed and put into operation in 2025.
It is known that BOE's decision to build a display module factory in Bac Ninh was at the request of Apple. If BOE creates a display module factory in northern Vietnam, Apple's panel supplier factory audit will be easier.
BOE's iPhone OLED post-processing is currently being carried out at the B11 line in Mianyang, Sichuan Province, China. For this reason, Apple has to visit both Vietnam and China to verify the same iPhone OLED post-processing module line, but if BOE establishes a factory in Bac Ninh, this effort can be reduced. From the standpoint of suppliers of inspection equipment needed for post-processing, if BOE builds a factory in Bac Ninh, the response can be quickened.
In the short term, BOE will mainly be supplying OLED displays for the iPhone SE4, which is expected to apply OLED for the first time next year. The 6.1-inch OLED applied to the iPhone SE4 is expected to be delivered at a low price of around $40, but it is an opportunity for BOE to increase panel production.
