Apple has Filed a Patent Infringement Lawsuit against Masimo Corporation and Sound Unlimited for Infringing 4 Apple Watch Design Patents

Apple has filed a four-count patent infringement lawsuit against Masimo Corporation and Sound United LLC. Apple's court filing states that Masimo is a hospital equipment manufacturer that has never been in the consumer wearables business. But recently, Masimo released its first watch, direct to consumers, called the Masimo W1. Rather than innovating and developing a product independently, Masimo copied Apple while filing lawsuits to try to prevent sales of Apple Watch. Masimo’s copying violates Apple’s patent rights. Apple brings this action to stop Masimo’s infringement. Below is the first graphic that Apple has presented to the court.

Apple's lawsuit is detailed with graphics covering the four design patents that Apple is claiming that Masimo Corporation has infringed. The patents listed include D883,279,  D947,842, D962,936 and D735,131.

According to Apple, Masimo recently acquired Sound United who launched the W1 watch.
