During Apple's special event, there were many more surprises than I was expecting. On August 26, Patently Apple posted a report titled "With SpaceX & T-Mobile preparing to offer limited Satellite smartphone service next year, Apple's event invite image of a star constellation just got interesting." Our report weaved through Apple's interest in satellite technology going back to 2013 to Ming-Chi Kuo's revelations of low-orbit satellite service on through to Elon Musk and T-Mobile announcing a new satellite service coming in 2023, triggered our report to note that Apple's "Far Out" tag for the event, likely pointed to Apple getting ahead of Musk and T-Mobile. Our hunch was correct and today Apple blew us away in how its service is going to work. This was definitely one of the key highlights of the iPhone 14 Pro keynote.

The iPhone 14 Pro's Dynamic Island
For months there were rumors of Apple's iPhone 14, at least the iPhone 14 Pro would be eliminating the notch with a crazy pill + dot design which looked as bad as the notch. Then in the last week or so, the rumor mill switched to claim that the pill + dot design would look contiguous when the iPhone was on.
Apple must have had a lot of fun making rumor sites look foolish. In the end, Apple's new camera system that's behind the pill-like design is actually now a part of Apple's all-new Dynamic Island concept that is an absolutely brilliant and refreshing concept that the video below details. This feature was my first Wow moment of the event.

More on Emergency SOS via Satellite
Apple brought together the iPhone 14 Pro's Hardware and Software together in a fantastic way to make using Apple's Emergency SOS via Satellite communications together in a way that only Apple can. Of course now that Apple invented it, the copycats will be working around the clock to match Apple's engineers and designers brilliance of making true emergency communications as simple as humanly possible. The Emergency service will be free in the U.S. and Canada for the first two years with an iPhone 14 Pro. For me, this feature was definitely the second Wow Moment of the Event.
