During Monday’s WWDC22 Keynote on iOS 16, Apple introduced ‘Safety Check’ that is designed to assist people in domestic or intimate partner violence situations review and reset the access they’ve granted others.
Apple has been working with three organizations in developing the iOS 16 Safety Check tool: (1) NNEDV National Network to End Domestic Violence ; (2) National Center for Victims of Crime; and (3) WESNET The Women’s Services Network.
Safety Check resets system privacy permissions for apps and restricts Messages and FaceTime to the device on hand. Below is the WWDC22 keynote segment about this feature presented by Katie Skinner, Senior Manager, User Privacy Software.
