BOE Responds to a Negative Rumor about Losing Apple OLED Display Business
On Friday Patently Apple posted a report titled " A Korean rumor report injects Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt (FUD) against Apple's Chinese Display Supplier BOE." Our report noted that "The website The Elec is a decent source for supply chain news. Yet as a Korean source they look for any rumor to support local display makers Samsung and LG Display at every opportunity against China's BOE. This isn't new. They use "Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt" known as FUD to intentionally put a competitor, such as BOE, at a disadvantage in the market."
Today, BOE responded to recent overseas media reports that BOE display orders were canceled due to tampering with the design of the iPhone OLED panel and was discovered by Apple. BOE said in response to investor questions that the company would not comment on media reports based on market rumors.
Further, "BOE has always been committed to customer first, quality first, and has always maintained close cooperation with global customers. At present, the company's annual target in the OLED field has not changed, and the development of related businesses is progressing in an orderly manner."
Will BOE's statement end the rumor mill's position? Likely not. Only in time will we be able to confirm if the rumor was in fact false or accurate. For now, we'll stand behind BOE's statement until evidence otherwise. For more on this, read the full IT Home report.
