A new report by IDC reports that the tablet market experienced a sharp decline of 20.3% year on year in the Middle East & Africa market territory. Samsung continued to lead in terms of market share, while Apple bucked the negative tablet trend by actually climbing to second place, overtaking Lenovo which came in third this year as presented in the IDC chart below.

On the PC side of things (desktops, notebook and workstations, the Middle East and Africa (MEA) market experienced a slight year-on-year decline of 1.5% in the first quarter of 2022. Apple didn’t make the top 3 positions. Why IDC didn’t go with a top 5 vendor list, which is traditional, is unknown.
