Apple won 57 Patents today covering Apple Watch with Touch ID, Gas Sensors for iPhone, Advanced Eye and Head Tracking and more
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office officially published a series of 57 newly granted patents for Apple Inc. today. In this particular report we briefly cover patents relating to Touch ID and other biometrics for Apple Watch; miniature gas sensors for iPhone that could measure gas levels in different rooms of your Home; advanced eye and head tracking for games and beyond; and a design patent relating to retail store fixtures. And as always, we wrap up this week's granted patent report with our traditional listing of the remaining granted patents that were issued to Apple today.
Apple Watch with Touch ID
Earlier this morning, Patently Apple posted an IP report titled "Apple has Won a Patent for Under-Display Touch ID for iPhone based on Off-Axis Angular Light." That patent also noted that Touch ID could apply to Apple Watch. Now in this second patent report we cover just that, Touch ID for Apple Watch and more.
Apple's patent FIG. 2 below is an illustrative block diagram of an overview of a wearable electronic device. It's here where Apple also surprises us by noting that "The display may also provide an input surface for one or more input devices, such as, for example, a touch sensing device and/or a fingerprint sensor."
The patent also covers other biometric applications, such as an electrocardiography application or a medical measurement or diagnostic application and more. For more details, review Apple's granted patent 11,281,262.
Miniature Gas Sensors for measuring gas levels in different Rooms in your Home
Today the U.S. Patent Office published Apple's granted patent that relates to integrating a series of enhanced miniature gas sensors in future iPhones that will be able to detect gas readings in various rooms in your home. For more, you could review our original 2019 patent report here for a quicker overview and/or review Apple's granted patent 11,280,774 here.
Advanced 3D Face ID System using an Eye Tracking System and more
Apple was also granted a patent titled "Eye and Head Tracking' today. Apple's patent covers an eye and head tracking system that could be used in context with playing games, but more importantly, the technology is used for advancing certain aspects of facial analysis relating to Face ID for iDevices, Macs and more.
This is Apple's second granted patent for this invention with new and additional patent claims. For a quick overview of this invention, you could review our original 2019 granted patent report and/or review Apple's latest granted patent 11,281,288.
