In April Patently Apple posted a report titled "Frame.io, a key remote workflow company, thinks the new iPad Pro's Display is the ideal solution for high-end Hollywood Content Creators." Today, Adobe announced it has agreed to acquire Frame.io.

Scott Belsky’s primary focus is making Creative Cloud a creativity platform for all. As chief product officer and executive vice president, Creative Cloud, Scott leads product management and engineering for Creative Cloud products and services, Adobe Spark, and Behance, Adobe’s community of 10 million creatives. Scott also oversees Adobe’s Design team, which is responsible for experience design across all Adobe products.

Today Belsky wrote in press release: "We are in a golden age of video. If you create video of any kind — from binge-worthy entertainment to inspiring social media shorts to videos that connect with your customers — chances are you’ve never been busier. And you know that making great videos does not happen without collaboration. That’s why I’m thrilled to announce that Adobe has entered into an agreement to acquire Frame.io, an industry-leading video collaboration platform."

Belsky further stated that "Frame.io’s cloud-native platform is a secure and elegant way to gather feedback from everyone involved in a video production – from the director to the script supervisor to all the people who need to approve the final project. Many of the world’s top film and television studios and Fortune 100 companies rely on Frame.io. And that list includes Adobe – we’ve long used Frame.io to collaborate on videos for our website, social media, and events.

Frame.io’s innovative founders and talented and passionate team are relentlessly focused on the future of video. Recently, for example, Frame.io launched ”Camera to Cloud,” the fastest, easiest, and most secure way to instantly get footage from cameras to collaborators anywhere in the world.

Adobe’s mission is to empower creativity for all and as creativity becomes increasingly collaborative, it’s essential that we make it simple and efficient for creative people to work together and to involve all the people who need to review and approve their work. (You’ll hear much more about enabling collaboration at Adobe MAX in October.) I know the Frame.io team is committed to the same goals and has innovative ideas for moving forward. That’s why we are so excited about working together.

Once the deal closes, the Frame.io team will join the Creative Cloud team, which is already laser-focused on bringing seamless collaboration to the creative world. Over the last few years, for instance, we’ve launched Creative Cloud Libraries, which help teams share creative ingredients - from fonts and colors to vectors and images. We’ve rolled out Cloud Documents in Photoshop, Illustrator, and XD, allowing customers to easily share their work with collaborators and stakeholders. And we’re making it much easier for stakeholders to review and share comments directly in our desktop products. The addition of Frame.io enables us to provide cloud-first collaboration for video and brings in a world-class team to help us unlock new possibilities.

Combining the Frame.io and Creative Cloud teams will bring exciting innovation to video creators. We plan to deeply integrate Frame.io into Premiere Pro, our industry-leading video editing application. Longer term, we have ambitious plans to bring advanced collaboration and groundbreaking technology, including expanded use of artificial intelligence, to video production and make every creator and creative team more collaborative and productive. And the innovation won’t be limited to Creative Cloud applications. With the addition of Frame.io, Creative Cloud’s commitment to enable collaboration across all stakeholders of creativity extends beyond Adobe’s applications to the growing number of third-party applications across the creative ecosystem."
