1 cover granted patents for July 20 2021

Today, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office officially published a series of 71 newly granted patents for Apple Inc. In this particular report we briefly cover patents relating to Memoji, a Project Titan invention for an active suspension system, the Mac Pro and more. We also cover two design patents and as always, we wrap up this week's granted patent report with our traditional listing of the remaining granted patents that were issued to Apple today.

Apple's Patent behind Memoji

Apple has been granted a patent relating to methods and systems for generating three-dimensional models of a user's face in captured images – in other words, Memoji.

Apple notes in their patent that motion capture has been used in a variety of areas to generate motion data that is based on tracking and recording the movements of real objects. For example, motion capture technology has been used frequently in video game production and movie production.

Apple's patent FIG. 5 below depicts a representation of a model of a user's face; FIG. 6 depicts a side-by-side representation of an example captured image and an example three-dimensional model projected onto the example captured image; FIG. 7 depicts an example of two three-dimensional models of a user with different poses and expressions in each of the models.

4 - design patents granted July 20 2021 - Apple - Patently Apple report

On July 6th Patently Apple posted a granted patent report that illustrated a design patent that was a mystery. Today, Apple has been granted another "display stand" design patent as presented above that appears to be supporting an iPad. This display design is smaller than the one posted on July 6th.
