Tianfeng Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released a report today predicting that Apple will launch an AR head-mounted display device in the second quarter of 2022, providing an image-like AR experience. This is a slight change from "mid-2022" that he predicted back in March.

According to the Taiwanese report, one of the key components of VR is the lens through which the user sees the display. VR lens is a high unit price component due to its high production difficulty. Kuo predicts that Yujingguang will be a key lens supplier.

Currently, Facebook is the largest VR brand with a market share of more than 70-80%. Due to better-than-expected demand for Oculus Quest 2, Facebook VR shipments will reach 8-9 million units in 2021, and 60-70% of shipments will be in the second quarter of 2021.

The report also said that it is predicted that Facebook will launch a new VR device in 2022, which will be equipped with a higher ASP lens, and it is predicted that Yujingguang will obtain about 50% of orders.

The report also predicts that Sony will launch a PS5 dedicated VR device in 2Q–3Q22, which will be equipped with a higher ASP lens and 4 cameras. It is predicted that Yujingguang will obtain about 50% of the orders for this new VR lens and camera lens.

In iPhone 13 news, Kuo is claiming that Apple has made Yujingguang the exclusive supplier of rear wide-angle lens and rear telephoto lens for iPhone 13 in the short run as Largan's samples to Apple failed to meet Apple's tolerance requirements.
