Apple Files for AppleCare+ Trademark in the U.S.

Apple's U.S. Trademark Filing for: AppleCare+ 

 

In the last week Apple legal has filed for the AppleCare+ trademark in the U.S. as presented in the partial application presented below.

Apple filed for their trademark on three distinct International Classes as follows:

 

Class 036: "Insurance and warranty services, namely, underwriting warranty and extended warranty contracts relating to the maintenance, repair, installation, replacement, and updating of computer hardware, computer peripherals, computer networks, and consumer electronic devices; insurance and warranty services, namely, underwriting warranty and extended warranty contracts relating to the maintenance, installation, and updating of computer software; providing extended warranties on computer hardware, computer peripherals, computer networks, consumer electronic devices, and computer software; insurance services, namely, providing accidental damage, theft, and loss insurance coverage for computer hardware, computer peripherals, and consumer electronic devices."

 

Class 037: "Maintenance, repair, updating, replacement, and installation services for computer hardware, computer peripherals, computer networks, and consumer electronic devices; consulting services in the field of physical maintenance of computer hardware, computer peripherals, computer networks, and consumer electronic devices."

 

Class 042: "Technical support services, namely, troubleshooting of problems relating to computer hardware, computer peripherals, computer networks, consumer electronic devices, and computer software; providing technical support and troubleshooting information via the internet, voice telecommunications networks, and on-site for fixing problems relating to computer hardware, computer peripherals, computer networks, consumer electronic devices, and computer software; computer consultation, namely, services for optimizing the performance and functionality of computer hardware, computer peripherals, computer networks, consumer electronic devices, and computer software."

 

Specimen: Apple supplied the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) with a specimen of use for this trademark as presented below. The U.S. Patent Office defines a specimen as being an example of how a company is actually using their trademark in the marketplace with the goods or services in their application.

It should be noted that International trademark classes that Apple files their trademarks under are important as the trademark registration will only protect those classes that have been identified in their original application. In a legal battle, the classes that were filed for originally could make or break a legal case.
