Rumors of an Apple Event for March are gaining Steam while Microsoft & Qualcomm prepare a new chip to keep up with Apple's M1
The never ending rumors of an Apple Event this month continued today with a tweet from Jon Prossor. His classic in-depth prediction pointed to a series of products that are likely to be presented at the event as noted below.

Products that are ready: AirTags, iPad Pro, AirPods, Apple TV
Take that however you’d like...
The star of the event could very well be the new iPad Pro powered by their new M1 processor. It may also be the first Apple device to sport a high-end miniLED display. That could be a killer combination that is bound to spark some excitement.
Patently Apple first covered the rumor of the shift to miniLED for the iPad Pro back in September 2019 with subsequent rumors in 2020 and 2021. Hopefully the rumors will finally convert to fact in the days ahead.
Apple introducing their killer M1 chip into the iPad Pro could put it on par with the latest MacBook Pro and really put pressure on their competition, especially on Microsoft's Surface 2-in-1 models, if not their entire laptop line-up.
Microsoft is still in shock over the power of the M1 processor. They've been working around the clock on a new chip with Qualcomm for their next Surface tablet-to-Laptop 2-in-1 designs and beyond.
Earlier today Gizchina reported that "The new chipset will be ready for high-end Windows laptops. Internally the Qualcomm chip is known as SC8250. Qualcomm is currently testing two versions of its ARM computer SoC. Of course, the brand is aiming for the top of the performance scale. The chipset isn’t simply coming to be an alternative for Windows-based laptops, it is coming as a valid choice against the Apple M1."
The new Snapdragon platform will also come with an Adreno 690 graphics unit used in Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2. It supports up to 14-inch display and 32GB of RAM. The chip has four absolute high-end cores. Qualcomm calls 'Gold+' cores.
In some samples, Qualcomm is testing clock speeds of 3.00GHz. This probably is to set the best limit that delivers optimum performance without sacrificing battery life. The Apple M1 chip offers the new MacBooks high double-digit battery life. Qualcomm is likely trying to achieve the same figure with its chips. After all, having a poor battery life will certainly be a bad characteristic for the first ARM-based Windows computers."
Reading about Microsoft and Qualcomm freaking out to compete with Apple's new M1 will only make the new iPad Pro announcement that much sweeter.
On another front, Gizmochina posted a rumor report earlier today with renderings of what Apple's AirPods 3 update could look like. They're closer to the AirPods Pro design as presented below. Only time will tell if the rumored rendering will even resemble Apple's updated AirPods. Yet it's a reasonable assumption that Apple will go that design route.
Lastly, Apple is rumored to be finally ready to release AirTags and a new Apple TV box. Now with Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade Services in play, an updated Apple TV box might place heavy emphasis on gaming specs and more.
All in all, there could be enough quality updates here for Apple to justify a full blown event. It would be a great way to end Apple's fiscal Q2 2021 and an even greater start to their fiscal Q3.
