Famed Apple Analyst released a new Investor's note with Rumors Galore from a Folding iPhone to abandoning the unpopular 'Notch'
Today Apple Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released a wide-ranging research note. The note began covering Apple's rumored and patented foldable iPhone. Kuo claims that the foldable iPhone would launch with a display in the 7.5 to 7.8 size range in 2023.
However there's a major caveat: A 2023 launch would be dependent on Apple being able to solve "key technology and mass production issues" this year … so it appears to still be in the research stage." That makes it a guess thrown into wind = a useless rumor. See MacRumors for more on this.
Next up: Kuo claims that as least some 2022 iPhone models will abandon the notch and switch to a "punch-hole display design" much like the Galaxy. Kuo wrote that the punch-hole display design will be adopted by high-end 2022 iPhones at a minimum, and if production yields are good enough, all 2022 iPhone models may use this design.
That's an iffy forecast unless Kuo knows that Apple is abandoning Face ID. Apple's biometric feature Face ID can't work with a tiny single hole. On a lower end iPhone with only Touch ID, perhaps. For more read the MacRumors second report .
Next up: Kuo claims that "Apple will release the new iPhone SE model in 1H22. The exterior design and most specifications are similar to the existing 4.7-inch iPhone SE. The biggest change is to support 5G and processor upgrades." More on this in MacRumors third report.
The last rumor report, reiterates endless previous rumors that some iPhone models will offer refresh rates up to 120Hz. This has been already patented by Apple back in mid-February. Over time and depending on the device Apple even contemplates higher refresh rates in the future.
Kuo rattled off other tidbits like the 2021 iPhones offering 5G will use Qualcomm's x60 modem (not the latest x65); the iPhone 12 Pro Max's sensor-shift image stabilization will expand to the entire iPhone 13 lineup; the 'port-less design' has been abandoned for 2021; the rear LiDAR Scanner will remain limited to iPhone 13 Pro models and more.
