In Q2-20 more than half of the Smartphones sold in Canada were iPhones, with the iPhone 11 coming out on Top
A new analytical report published late yesterday reports that the COVID-19 outbreak impacted Canadian smartphone sales as the majority of carrier stores remained shut during most of the first half of the quarter. Even though it was a tough quarter, Apple emerged as the big winner.
One in two smartphones sold in Canada in Q2-20 was an iPhone. More importantly, Apple captured seven spots in the top 10 best-selling devices during the quarter. Apple iPhone 11 continues to remain the best-selling smartphone in Q2 2020.
Counterpoint further reported that Apple and Samsung together continued to dominate the Canadian smartphone market. In Q2 2020, the two brands together accounted for 86% of the total smartphone sales compared to 81% during the Q2 2019.
Apple grew their market share year-on-year from 44% to 52%. That's pretty amazing considering that Xiaomi and Huawei smartphones with great features are also available in Canada unlike the U.S.
