Tim Cook, Jeff Bezos, Sundar Pichai and Mark Zuckerberg are set to Virtually appear at the rescheduled Antitrust Hearing on Wednesday
It was just Friday when the news hit the wires that the antitrust hearing was being postponed in Washington due to memorial services being held for the late John Lewis. We're now learning that the hearings are too important to delay for weeks or even months and so the hearings are back on track. Instead of the original Monday schedule, it's now set for this Wednesday.
A subcommittee announcement issued on Saturday said the session now would be held on Wednesday and that witnesses and members could appear in person or virtually.
Reuters is reporting that "All four tech company CEOs - Jeff Bezos of Amazon, Tim Cook of Apple, Sundar Pichai of Alphabet and Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook - are to appear virtually, the announcement said.
The subcommittee of the Democratic-led House Judiciary Committee is investigating whether the companies actively seek to harm and eliminate smaller rivals.
“Given the central role these corporations play in the lives of the American people, it is critical that their CEOs are forthcoming,” Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler and David Cecilline, the subcommittee chairman, said in a joint statement."
Apple's CEO Tim Cook has been preparing to defend the company's App Store pricing and policies. It's unknown at this time whether the hearings will be televised or available online.
