Apple Analyst predicts that Apple will Keep 5G iPhones costs down by not including Typical Accessories in the box
According to a new report out of Taiwan, Apple doesn't want to raise the price for 5G iPhones and in order to do that they'll cut costs by not including EarPods or a power adapter in the box this year. The trend may extend to the iPhone SE in 2021.
The Kuai Technology report notes that Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (known as Guo Minchi in Twaiwan) stated today that "Apple’s new 20W charger will be mass-produced in the third quarter, and its appearance is similar to the current 18W model. Suppliers include Salcomp, Flextronics, and Artisan, while the existing 5W and 18W chargers will be in 2020.
Before the end of the year, production will be discontinued, and the 12W charger is expected to be discontinued after 9-12 months.
The report notes that Guo Minchi believes that Apple will be starting a trend in the industry and will likely spill over to Android vendors.
The news from Guo Minchi (Ming-Chi Kuo) appears to contradict the news from another Apple leaker known simply as "Mr. White" this week who claimed that the new iPhone 12 will be equipped with the 20W Power Adapter.
