The Samsung UNPACKED Event 02.11. 2020

Interestingly Samsung's big Smartphone Event in San Francisco today started with their new Galaxy Z Fold smartphone and not their traditional line of smartphones like the Galaxy S20 which came later in the show. The Z Flip uses next-gen thin glass and not plastic as we covered in a report posted back in October 2019.

Towards the end of the keynote Samsung announced partnerships with Netflix, YouTube and Microsoft's Xbox. The first game available today for the S20 is Forza Street with new titles in the works.

The new Galaxy S20 Family

A Few Key Galaxy S20 Features

New Zoom Capability: With the Galaxy S20’s Space Zoom technology that uses a combination of Hybrid Optic Zoom and Super Resolution Zoom, which includes AI-powered digital zoom, even when you are far away you can zoom in close. Use up to 30X zoom on the Galaxy S20 and S20+. The 30X zoom as shown in the full keynote was pretty impressive and quite frankly it should push Apple next iPhones to introduce quality zoom that is lacking.

While their top end S20 Ultra offered 100X zoom, it was blurry and I have no idea why they wanted to promote such lousy quality. Then again, it could have been the lousy presentation. The 30X zoom was the winner of the day and it's a must for every premium smartphone going forward.

Pro-Grade Filming Capability in 8K: Samsung pushed the fact that the new Galaxy S20 offers stunning 8K video shooting, so users can capture their world in true-to-life color and quality.
