Earlier this month Apple Hired Netflix's Director of Cloud Engineering
Apple hired Ruslan Meshenberg earlier this month as 'Engineering Leader' according to his LinkedIn Profile. Ruslan Meshenberg was with Netflix for over 8 years. For six years he was the Director, Cloud Platform Engineering and for the last two years he was VP, Productivity Engineering.
Meshenberg is an experienced engineering leader with a track record of successfully delivering complex and challenging initiatives. He scaled up the Cloud Platform organization at Netflix during the early years of rapid streaming growth and global expansion, developing and operating the high availability web-scale platform.
He established and led the Productivity Engineering organization accelerating developer effectiveness across all Netflix engineering teams.
He also initiated and led NetflixOSS open source program that built a community of companies and people to evolve Cloud Native ecosystem. The NetflixOSS program helped to cultivate the Netflix technology brand as a leader in Cloud Native application development.
The news of Apple hiring Meshenberg comes days after the rumor that Apple and Netflix were noted as possible bidders for MGM
During yesterday's Financial Conference for Q1 2020, Apple's CEO touched on Apple TV+ this way:
"Apple TV+ is off to a rousing start, and I want to congratulate the entire team at the morning show for their multiple Golden Globe nominations. Jennifer Aniston on her Screen Actors Guild award and Billy Crudup on his Critics Choice Award. We continue to focus on telling stories that matter like Little America, which recently premiered to widespread critical acclaim with much more great content still to come."
Earlier in January The Apple TV+ Executive Team Finalized a 5-Year Production Deal with Former HBO CEO Richard Plepler.
Apple is bound to continue to bring in top talent and build Apple TV+ into a top streaming service over the coming years.
