According to a new supply chain report, Taiwan-based PCB maker Unitech, having registered impressive revenues so far this year, expects stable shipments of HDI rigid-flex boards for AirPods 2 to persist into the first half of 2021 as a major growth driver.

The company has reported its revenues for the first 11 months of 2019 surged 15.01% on year to NT$20.55 billion (US$574.65 million), already exceeding the annual total of 2018. The sources attributed the growth to shipments for Apple's AirPods 2.

The launch of AirPods Pro has not significantly affected Unitech's shipments of rigid-flex boards for AirPods 2, as the former is not meant to replace the latter, the sources said.

The company has invested heavily in expanding rigid-flex board capacity to satisfy the demand for AirPods 2, adding that to boost capacity utilization.

Apple's AirPods 2 were introduced in March. The update included hands-free "Hey Siri", the H1 chip that replaced the oldner W1 chips, Bluetooth 5.0 and more.

Unitech also revealed that it won first-time orders from Apple for battery boards for one of the models in the iPhone 11 lineup.
