Apple Files Trademark Filings for "AirPods Pro" in Europe & Hong Kong
Late yesterday Apple legal filed for 'AirPods Pro' trademarks in Europe and Hong Kong prior to the AirPods Pro going on sale in Shanghai, Tokyo around the globe.
Apple Files for 'AirPods Pro' Trademark in Europe
Apple filed their trademark specifically under International Class 09 covering the following:
"Wireless communication devices for the transmission of voice, data, images, audio, video, and multimedia content; wearable activity trackers; computer software for setting up, configuring, operating or controlling mobile devices, mobile telephones, wearable devices, computers, computer peripherals, set top boxes, televisions, and audio and video players; application development software; computer peripheral devices; peripheral devices for computers, mobile telephones, mobile electronic devices, wearable electronic devices, smartwatches, smartglasses, earphones, headphones, set top boxes, and audio and video players and recorders; wearable computer peripherals; wearable peripherals for use with computers, smartglasses, televisions, set top boxes, and audio and video players and recorders; headsets for use with computers, smart phones; audio speakers; motor vehicle audio apparatus; voice recording and voice recognition apparatus; earphones; headphones; microphones; radios; radio transmitters and receivers; home theatre systems, and entertainment systems; parts and accessories for computers, computer peripherals, mobile telephones, mobile electronic devices, wearable electronic devices, smartwatches, smartglasses, earphones, headphones, audio and video players and recorders, televisions and set top boxes."
Apple also filed for the "AirPods" trademark in Hong Kong under number 305097141 and under the same International Class 09. One glaring difference in the verbiage listed in Hong Kong is the addition of:
"..electronic voice command and recognition apparatus for controlling the operations of consumer electronics devices and residential systems."
Trademark classes are important because the trademark registration will only protect Apple's trademark(s) in the classes that have been identified in their application.
Apple's priority filing for AirPods Pro was made in Liechtenstein in mid-June of this year under number 2019-451.
