In late June Patently Apple posted a report titled "Jony Ive begins his Exit from Apple, with his new Venture 'LoveFrom' Officially Kicking off in 2020." Jony Ives filed for his trademark in Jamaica in late May, prior to the Financial Times revelation.

The Financial Times asked: "What inspiration brought about choosing his new brand LoveFrom?" Ive replied by describing this way: "There was an employee meeting a number of years ago and Steve [Jobs] was talking . . . He [said] that one of the fundamental motivations was that when you make something with love and with care, even though you probably will never meet . . . the people that you're making it for, and you'll never shake their hand, by making something with care, you are expressing your gratitude to humanity, to the species."

The U.S. trademark for the company name 'LOVEFROMJONY,' as presented in our cover graphic (minus the gray background), was published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office under number 88521378 on July 18, 2019.

The filing shows that Ive wants to be able to design almost anything being that he filed his trademark under 25 International Classes as follows: 03, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 18, 20, 21, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 30, 32, 33, 34, 35, 41, 42. The particulars are too many to add to this report, so you can check the details of each class here.

Priority based on foreign filing: The applicant has a bona fide intention, and is entitled, to use the mark in commerce on or in connection with the identified goods/services and asserts a claim of priority based on Jamaica application number 077758, filed 05/29/2019.

Chance Miller reporting for 9to5Mac was first to get the tip of the trademark filing earlier today.
