Last month, Jay Hunt, Apple's European creative director of worldwide video, spoke before the House of Lords, the upper house of UK's Parliament and revealed that the Apple had already spent millions in production with British content producers, including BBC Studios. Hunt said that the 'intervention' of Apple TV+ in the UK was 'important.'

Hunt further stated in her speech: "I commission a considerable amount of content from the UK creative community. It is exciting to have an organization of Apple’s size coming into the UK and giving the sector here that level of scrutiny and support. Long before we have even launched our original commissioning strategy, millions of pounds have been spent on commissioning with British production houses."

One of Apple TV+'s latest productions is a co-production between the BBC and Apple for a comedy series staring Imelda Staunton. Americans would only know the actress by her role in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, where she played Professor Dolores Umbridge.
