Apple's Liquid Retina™ Receives Registered Status as their 'iPhone' Trademark is updated to cover Financial Services
Late yesterday the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued Registration Certificate number 5,771,580 to Apple for "Liquid Retina," their brand name for high-end LCD displays that are currently being used on the iPad Pro and iPhone XR.
In addition, the Hong Kong Patent and Trademark Office posted a new trademark filling made by Apple for "iPhone." Apple's trademark has been updated to now cover financial services that will support Apple Card coming to the iPhone later this year.
Apple's 'Liquid Retina' now a Registered Trademark
Apple's trademark for Liquid Retina is now protected under International Class 09 which covers the following:
"Computers; electronic display screens and electronic display interfaces; handheld mobile digital devices used as a telephone, handheld computer, media player, and personal digital assistant used to access the Internet, electronic mail, digital audio, video, and data; smartphones."
Apple Files for new iPhone Trademark to Cover Finances
Apple has filed a new iPhone trademark update in Hong Kong, China, in order to protect their brand in use with 'Apple Card,' Apple's new financial service launching later this year. Apple filed their trademark to be specifically protected under International Class 36 which covers the following:
"Financial services; financing services; banking services; financing of loans; extension of retail credit; installment loans; lease-purchase financing; debit and credit card services; issuance of credit cards; payment services; financial transaction services; electronic payment processing services; electronic payment processing services using biometric technology for identification and authentication; financial services, namely, accepting, processing, authenticating, managing and reconciling electronic payments and electronic payment transactions; insurance and warranty services; providing and underwriting warranty and extended warranty contracts; gift card and prepaid card services; providing rebates at participating establishments of others through use of a membership card; providing cash and other rebates for credit card use as part of a customer loyalty program; charitable fundraising services; financial counseling services; financial advice and consultancy services; providing financial information about stocks; providing information in the fields of investment and finance."
