Apple wants Developers to Place the 'Sign in with Apple' Button above those from Google and Facebook

According to new design guidelines being released this week, Apple will reportedly request that developers position the new "Sign on with Apple" button in iPhone and iPad apps above rival buttons from Google and Facebook, reports Reuters.

The move to give Apple prime placement is significant because users often select the default or top option on apps. And Apple will require apps to offer its button if they want to offer options to login with Facebook or Google.

Apple unveiled its login button on Monday, emphasizing users’ privacy and also introducing a feature that randomly generates an email address to avoid revealing the person’s true email.

Many consumers choose to sign in to independent apps using their accounts from Google or Facebook because it saves the trouble of having to create and remember separate user names and passwords for dozens of different apps."

Yet Apple's SVP Software stated during Monday's keynote that signing on with Google or Facebook means that advertisers will be able to extend their tracking of user's activities. "Apple's new Sign in with Apple" will provide users with a more private option and developers a way to offer a fast one-step login without sending their user’s data to another company.

Reuters further added that "In a press release about updates to its App Store review guidelines, Apple said its login button “will be required as an option for users in apps that support third-party sign-in when it is commercially available later this year."

The segment on the new 'Sign in with Apple' button starts around the 40 minute mark of the WWDC Keynote video. Craig Federighi introduced it this way:

2 FINAL - Sign in from facebook Google means tracking you deeper

"We've all seen Buttons like this (slide above), asking us to use a social account login to get a more personalized experience with an app. Now, this can be convenient but it also could come at the cost of your privacy. Your personal information sometimes gets shared behind the scenes and these logins can be used to track you. We wanted to solve this and many developers do to. And so now we have the solution (slide 2 pops up as shown below) – it's called "Sign in with Apple."

Federighi added, "Sign in with Apple is a fast, easy way to sign in without all the tracking." You could learn more about what Federighi said here. Go to the 41 minute mark where he adds commentary.
