The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office officially published a series of 59 newly granted patents for Apple Inc. today. In this particular report we cover an advanced encrypted vehicle door lock system that can foil hackers, Dimming Pixel technology that's used to push the Apple Watch UI smoothly right into the corners of the glass for a superior aesthetic and finally, an Apple Watch table for Apple Stores that include a number of advanced systems including security. We wrap up this week's granted patent report with our traditional listing of the remaining granted patents that were issued to Apple today.

Vehicle Locking System using Encryption & Machine Learning to Foil Hackers

Apple's newly granted patent 10,285,013 covers one of their Project Titan inventions. More specifically the system describes how a future iPhone, Apple Watch or other wearable device could be used to lock and unlock vehicles doors, open the trunk, start the vehicle and may support an in-vehicle wireless charging system for Apple devices. Apple also notes that to authenticate the fob in relation to a vehicle, it will utilize encryption to foil hackers. Lastly, a unique aspect to the system is that it uses machine learning.

Pushing UIs right into Rounded Corners using "Pixel Dimming" Technology

Apple's newly granted patent 10,283,062 covers their invention relating to user interfaces that could be pushed right into the corners of an iDevice. Apple notes that "In order to maximize the apparent smoothness of the curved edge, the display may include circuitry that dims some of the pixels based on their location relative to a spline for the curved edge."

Apple's patent FIG. 2 below is a top view of an illustrative array of pixels for a display with rounded corners; FIG. 3 is a top view of an illustrative spline for a display with rounded corners; FIG. 9 is a top view of an illustrative display with a spline showing how the linear velocity associated with a given sub-pixel may be determined.

Apple Watch Table with Built-in Cooling, Audio & Security Systems

Apple's newly granted patent 10,278,517 covers their invention relating to an advanced Apple Watch table in Apple Stores.
