China's Fuyang Technology Joins Apple's iPhone Supply Chain for Flexible Printed Circuit Boards

1 X Cover - Fuyang Technologies enters Apple's fpcb supply chain

A new supply chain report today reveals that Flexible PCB (printed circuit board) manufacturer Fuyang Technology, a joint venture between Pegatron and Kinsus Interconnect Technology, has reportedly entered the supply chain of Apple.

Founded in 2016, Fuyang specializing in the development of FPCBs managed to obtain orders from Apple in just about two years since its establishment, the sources noted. The role of Pegatron in helping Fuyang grab the orders is believed to be significant, the sources said.

Pegatron is already a major assembler of iPhones, the sources added. The contract electronics manufacturer is quietly building its own manufacturing empire in order to secure orders from Apple, the sources said, adding that while ensuring its manufacturing stability and a better cost structure for profit reasons, Pegatron has started getting involved in the upstream chip and component manufacturing sectors through some form of deal and partnership.

Last month Patently Apple posted a report titled "Apple's Latest Conflict Minerals Report Details their ongoing work and Removal of five Non-Compliant Smelters and Refiners."

With that in mind, Fuyang has a clear conflict minerals policy that would align with Apple's. In part it reads: " FuYang Technology will keep on concerning this issue and will take due diligence within our supply chain to assure the metals sources of gold (Au), tantalum (Ta), tungsten (W), tin (Sn) are not derived from mining in conflict region Of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). We will also invite our supply chain to to investigate metal sources of products and do our best to avoid using conflict minerals, and endeavor to fulfill responsibilities of a corporate citizen."
