Exactly a year ago Patently Apple posted a report titled "Apple is #1 on Fast Company's Top 50 Innovative Companies List for 2018." Wow what a difference a year makes. As you could see in Fast Company's top 10 list below, Apple didn't even make the cut this year. Their fall to 17th place is a humbling crash after Apple missed their first Quarter revenues for 2019. It's like having salt being rubbed into a wound.

When Apple barely beats out Domino's Pizza for innovator of the year, it's clear sign that the winds of change have arrived and Apple is going to have to roll up their sleeves and actually prove their worthiness this year if they're to return to that the top position that they held last year.

On the flip side, Apple is the only smartphone or traditional computer company to have made the list. Samsung, Huawei, HP, Dell, TSMC nor Qualcomm made the list. So in that light, Apple is still a shining star in the tech sector.

Fast Company on Apple: "Apple’s most impressive new product of 2018 wasn’t a phone or a tablet, but a chip: the A12 Bionic.
