Last week Patently Apple posted a report that pointed out that there was a rumor that Apple was considering a workaround for iPhone 7 and 8 that came from German tech site "WinFuture." Today, in a weird twist, Apple said that it will resume selling older iPhone models in its stores in Germany after they were banned last year, but only with chips from Qualcomm.

In early January Apple was ordered to remove some iPhone models for its 15 stores in Germany after Qualcomm paid their bond

Reuters report today states that Apple had said that it had "no choice" but to stop using some chips from Intel Corp in iPhones headed to Germany in order to comply with a patent infringement lawsuit Qualcomm won against Apple there in December.

"Qualcomm is attempting to use injunctions against our products to try to get Apple to succumb to their extortionist demands," Apple said in a statement to Reuters.

That was an interesting choice of words from Apple considered that on Tuesday Qualcomm lost a major lawsuit brought on by Korea's Fair Trade Commission over unfair practices to maintain a monopoly.

It should also be pointed out that just last week Judge "Dana M. Sabraw of the United States District Court for the Southern District of California entered an order after which Qualcomm and Quinn Emanuel should be ashamed for the procedural shenanigans with which they obtained an injunction in Germany that appears to be absolutely baseless."
