Apple's Enthusiastic Keynote in Brooklyn Hit a Grand Slam with their new MacBook Air, Mac Mini, iPad Pro & Accessories

1 x Cover apple keynote in New York The Brooklyn Academy of Music

The Apple team led by Apple's CEO Tim Cook came to their event held at the Brooklyn Academy of Music this morning with great enthusiasm. The New York crowd ate it all up and went wild applauding every new Apple product introduced. Apple updated their MacBook Air, robustly super-charged their Mac Mini and delivered their gorgeous new iPad Pro with new Apple Pencil 2 and the newly designed Smart Keyboard that uses an all-new magnetics system. The keyboard can now sit in two positions adding more user comfort. Nothing describes In the end, nothing describes Apple's new products so succinctly as their new series of videos as presented below.

Behind the Mac, People with Passion are Changing the World for the better

Introducing the new MacBook Air

The new MacBook Air brings many of our most advanced technologies to this iconic design for the first time — including a brilliant Retina display, Touch ID, a powerful eighth-generation Intel Core i5 processor, the latest-generation butterfly keyboard, and the Apple T2 Security Chip. And with an enclosure made with 100% recycled aluminum, it’s the greenest Mac ever.

Take a peek at the new MacBook Air. It’s even thinner and lighter, with a brilliant Retina display, Touch ID, a powerful eighth-generation Intel Core i5 processor, the latest-generation butterfly keyboard, and the Apple T2 Security Chip. And with an enclosure made with 100% recycled aluminum, it’s the greenest Mac ever.

Introducing the new iPad Pro

2 Cover iPad Pro all new no home button

iPad Pro is all new, all screen, and all powerful. Now with an edge-to-edge Liquid Retina display, Face ID, and an A12X Bionic chip, and introducing the new Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard Folio. It’s like a computer, unlike any computer.

Oh and by the way, we pointed to Apple filing for the liquid Retina Trademark on October 20th wherein they listed a "tablet" in its coverage. We thought that could translate to the liquid Retina coming to iPad Pro and our hunch was accurate.

Apple's SVP of Worldwide Marketing Phil Schiller's voice introducing the new iPad Pro not Jonathan Ive. We really miss Ive's classic introductions.

iPad Pro — Change

Meet the new iPad Pro. The biggest change to iPad since iPad. Now with an all-screen design with Liquid Retina display, Face ID, A12X Bionic chip, USB-C, Smart Keyboard Folio, and a redesigned Apple Pencil.

3 apple pencil 2

Apple's latest Apple Pencil patent described bringing touch control to the Pencil. Apple noted in their patent filing that styli have become popular input devices for touch-sensitive devices. In particular, use of an active stylus capable of generating stylus stimulation signals that can be sensed by the touch-sensitive device can improve the precision and control of the stylus.

In some instances it may be desirable for input devices, such as styli, to be able to transfer data, in addition to a stimulation signal used to identify touch location, to the touch screen. For example, data from the input devices (such as touch, force, orientation, tilt, or the like) may be communicated to the touch screen, which may use that data to change an output of the display or perform some other operation.

Double tapping on the new Apple Pencil is in fact bringing touch controls to the pencil. And Bingo, Phil Schiller called it "the cylindrical touch sensor" at around the 2:04 mark of the first iPad video above. We learned of the cylindrical touch sensor as earlier noted and it looks like this.

The new magnetic pencil intelligently allows for the pencil to attach to the iPad securely and more importantly, it wirelessly charges the Pencil which is brilliant.

At the moment, the only thing that I see still missing on the iPad Pro is a microSD slot. I'd love to buy the 64GB iPad Pro 11" and then add memory if I need more down the road. Unfortunately it's not something that Apple wants to support.

The Re-Imagined Mac mini — The Arrival

The all-new Mac mini is re-engineered in no small way. With new eighth-generation 6-core and quad-core processors, faster 2666MHz DDR4 memory, lightning-quick all-flash storage with up to a 2TB SSD, four Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports, HDMI 2.0, and available 10Gb Ethernet, this is the most powerful and versatile Mac mini yet.

The only disappointment of the event was Apple not launching 'AirPower,' the companies multi-device wireless charger. Apple made no effort whatsoever to clarify the missing accessory that they promised over a year ago. That's going down a huge fail on Apple's part. When the Pixel 3 was introduced it came with a tiny nifty fast charger that added a few nice features. Apple could have tried to at least deliver a simpler wireless charger until AirPower is ready but chose to just play stupid.
