The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office officially published a series of 28 newly granted patents for Apple Inc. today. In this particular report we cover two of them. The first covers one of Apple's original inventions relating to eSIM technology for Apple Watch. The second patent relates to Apple's original work on a seamlessly embedded heart rate monitor. Back in 2010, prior to the iPad or Apple Watch, Apple's engineers were working on a way to make an iPhone a health device. Apple's work on this invention later shifted to the Apple Watch where this work now shines. Last week Apple introduced the first smartphone that could take an ECG with a single touch of the new Digital Crown. We wrap up this week's granted patent report with our traditional listing of the remaining granted patents that were issued to Apple today.

Granted Patent: Methods, Procedures and Framework to Provision an eSIM and make it Multi-SIM Capable using Primary Account Information

Apple's newly granted patent 10,080,119 covers their invention relating to wireless communication, including provisioning a secondary wireless device, such as an Apple Watch, with an eSIM for wireless communication using account information from a primary wireless device having a subscribed SIM.

Apple's patent FIG. 4 above is a flow diagram illustrating example operation of provisioning an eSIM to a secondary wireless device or initiating multi-SIM functionality using a carrier system.

Apple's granted patent was filed in Q4 2017 and published today by the US Patent and Trademark Office.

Apple was first granted a closely related patent on eSIM back on December 12, 2017 titled "Framework to Provision an eSIM and make it Multi-SIM Capable using Primary Account Information." Granted Patent: Seamlessly Embedded Heart Rate Monitor

Apple's newly granted patent covers their invention relating to an electronic device having a seamlessly integrated cardiac sensor.

Patently Apple covered Apple's original patent application back in 2010 and again in 2014 when Apple updated their invention. Today Apple was finally granted a patent for this invention under number 10,076,257.
