Earlier this month 9to5Mac noticed that Apple had rebranded its reuse and recycling trade-in program earlier this year as 'Apple GiveBack.' "Now, customers buying new devices on Apple's website or the Apple Store app can use a trade-in to instantly offset the cost.

Previously, using Apple's trade-in program online meant shipping off your device and waiting for an Apple gift card or debit card with the corresponding value. To receive a credit that could be applied against the new purchases immediately meant visiting an Apple Store.

Now, ahead of its iPhone event next month, Apple has updated its website and Apple Store app with a new GiveBack interface to make upgrading devices easier than ever." You could read more of that story here.

Ahead of the iPhone event, Apple has filed for the trademark "Apple GiveBack" in two applications in the U.S. and one in Hong Kong, China.

Apple's TM Application 88083464 was filed under International Class 35 which covers the following: "Retail services, namely, providing a trade-in and buy-back program for used computers, computer hardware and peripherals, tablet computers, smartwatches, smartphones, set-top boxes, media players, audio speakers, headphones, earphones, wireless routers, computer monitors, computer keyboards, computer mice, computer cables, computer power adapters, computer printers for printing documents and photos, scanners, and peripherals and accessories for the foregoing; retail services, namely, providing a recycling incentive program whereby participants receive payment, credit or services in exchange for trading in used computers, computer hardware and peripherals, tablet computers, smartwatches, smartphones, set-top boxes, media players, audio speakers, headphones, earphones, wireless routers, computer monitors, computer keyboards, computer mice, computer cables, computer power adapters, computer printers for printing documents and photos, scanners, and peripherals and accessories for the foregoing."

Apple's TM Application 88083487 was filed under International Class 40 which covers the following: "recycling; recycling of used computers, computer hardware and peripherals, tablet computers, smartwatches, smartphones, set-top boxes, media players, audio speakers, headphones, earphones, wireless routers, computer monitors, computer keyboards, computer mice, computer cables, computer power adapters, computer printers for printing documents and photos, scanners, and peripherals and accessories for the foregoing"

Apple filed the 'Apple GiveBack' trademark in Hong Kong, China, under application number 304639834 under the very same International Classes 35 and 40.
