One of the most popular apps used by creatives without a doubt is Photoshop. At the moment Apple's creative community could only access Photoshop on Macs. So the news that they'll be able to work on Photoshop on an iPad Pro in the not-too-distant future will be music to their ears.  Such a development will take away Microsoft's current Surface tablet advantage. Future versions of Adobe apps will allow users to run full versions of their programs on Apple Macs and be able to continue edits on the iPad Pro and other devices.

According to Bloomberg, "The new tools will have mobile-friendly interfaces more familiar to these audiences, rather than being replicas of the existing desktop versions. The app won't immediately be a replacement for Photoshop, which has been around since 1990, but will be offered alongside it, people familiar with the project said.

Adobe's chief product officer of Creative Cloud Scott Belsky confirmed the company was working on a new cross-platform iteration of Photoshop and other applications, but declined to specify the timing of their launches.

"My aspiration is to get these on the market as soon as possible," Belsky said in an interview. "There's a lot required to take a product as sophisticated and powerful as Photoshop and make that work on a modern device like the iPad. We need to bring our products into this cloud-first collaborative era."

Adobe's mission is twofold -- to satisfy the professionals who rely on its software for photo editing and illustration, and to capture casual users. It was interesting that Adobe's Belsky added that "Newer versions of the iPad Pro are now powerful enough to support Adobe's apps."

Apple's promotional material online makes it clear that the iPad Pro is more powerful that most PC laptops. It's been rumored for some time now that Apple is working on an ARM based processor for Macs. In April a major rumor from Bloomberg claimed that Apple would be moving away from Intel processors. Today's revelation that Photoshop is coming to the iPad Pro in 2019 only strengthens the likelihood that Apple is working on a more hormonious platform where major apps on macOS will be able to one day run on Apple ARM processors for iDevices and more Mac-like notebooks.
