Apple Grows PC Business in the Middle East & Africa
IDC's office in Dubai reports that the top 5 PC vendors in Middle East and Africa (MEA) grew in Q1 2018 in spite of the overall market declining 5.3% year on year in Q1 2018. Apple came in third with 0.7% growth in the quarter.
The personal computing devices (PCD) market is made up of desktops, notebooks, workstations, and tablets. IDC's tracker shows that shipments fell to around 5.7 million units for the three-month period, which represents the lowest quarterly volume recorded for more than six years.
Fouad Charakla, IDC's senior research manager (MEA) stated that "The overall market decline stemmed from falling demand for tablets. These devices are falling out of favor across the region."
