President Trump announced on November 02 that Broadcom was returning their head office to the U.S. Broadcom's CEO Hock Tan went on to thank the U.S. President for improving business conditions so that they could make America home again. In a press release issued later that day, Broadcom officially announced that it intended to initiate a redomiciliation process to change the parent company of the Broadcom corporate group from a Singapore company to a U.S. corporation. The company announced that upon returning they would invest $3 billion in research and engineering, $6 billion in manufacturing and create many high paying jobs.

Broadcom officially stated today that it expects to redomicile to the United States by April 3, two days before Qualcomm holds its annual shareholder meeting.

Broadcom's $117 billion offer to buy California-based Qualcomm is being reviewed by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) for potential national security threats.

Broadcom said such security concerns were not a risk to the closure of the proposed buyout as it never planned to finish the deal before completing moving its official base to the United States. For more on this, read the full Reuters report here.

Over the weekend Patently Apple reported on the twist that Intel was considering a bid for Broadcom as fears were growing from the likes of Microsoft and Google that Apple would hold sway over the deal with Broadcom.
