Apple is Sucking the supply of OLED Displays out of the Market forcing Apple's Competitors in China to Consider Alternatives
Apple's shift to OLED displays is sucking the supply of OLED displays right out of the market which is forcing Leading China-based smartphone vendors, including Huawei Technologies, Oppo and Xiaomi Technology, to possibly adopt mini LED-backlit panels as an alternative to AMOLED for smartphones to be launched in second-half 2018.
Digitimes further noted that "The vendors speculate Apple may extend use of AMOLED panels to its iPhone devices to be launched in 2018, occupying more of Samsung Display's AMOLED production, the sources said."
It was recently reported that LG will be working with to supply Apple with OLED displays possibly starting in late 2018, while moving to mass production in early 2019. So dominating OLED production from both of Korea's largest display manufacturers will keep competitors unable to match Apple's iPhone specifications which they love to do.
