One of Canada's Largest Wireless Carriers Claims Strong iPhone X Pre-Orders & iPhone 8 Picking up Steam
A little after midnight Apple had sold out the first round of the iPhone X allotment with Apple saying that sales were off the charts. One commenter on our second report today noted that "Of course Apple is going to say demand is off the charts. Apple is hyperbolic in everything they say about their products and 'off the charts' is vague enough to mean anything…" Later today one of Canada's largest wireless carrier chimed in and backed up Apple's sentiment.
According to a late day report by Axios, "Rogers Communications, one of the largest wireless carriers in Canada, said Friday that it has seen "tremendous customer excitement" and strong pre-orders for the iPhone X.
Perhaps more importantly, it now says overall demand for the iPhone 8 as "good" after previously characterizing it as anemic." We noted this week that in just 7 days the iPhone 8 had become the number one smartphone in Taiwan beating out Samsung's S8. So in some markets it's better than just "good.
Rogers added that "We expect the two [iPhone models] together will be very popular with our customers this holiday season with iPhone 8 being a major contributor."
