Google's Pixel 2 is a Terrible Disappointment with Signs of OLED Display Problems including Burn-In
Last week Tom's Guide reported last week that "While the smaller-sized Pixel 2's 5-inch AMOLED panel appears to be perfectly serviceable as far as flagship smartphone displays go, it's surprisingly the more expensive model's 6-inch POLED screen that is presenting problems. Critics have complained of washed out colors, poor white balance, an unavoidable color shift at certain angles, and a slight graininess to solid hues." After testing it, Tom's Guide confirmed that yes, "The Pixel 2 XL does have a display problem.' Today, the news only gets worse.
Android Central posted a report on Sunday titled "Pixel 2 XL Screen Burn-in is Real, Google is actively investigating." Ouch!
The report noted that "one of our Pixel 2 XL review units, in use for about a week, is already seeing some pretty crazy levels of burn-in."
Google wants to take on Apple's iPhone, but having a nasty display burn-in problem is a clear way to show consumers that they're not really a prime time smartphone player yet.
