Another Secret Supplier behind Apple's new 3D Sensing Camera may have been discovered in the UK
In late June Patently Apple posted a report titled "Some of Apple's new 'iPhone X' suppliers have been identified associated with Technologies like 3D Sensing & more," followed by reports in July and August revealing more. All three reports had a common thread of revealing 3D sensing technology suppliers. Today we learn of yet another new supplier that may have been contracted by Apple.
According to a Bloomberg report, there's excitement amongst investors who believe that they've discovered a new 3D camera technology company supplying Apple with wafers that are needed for Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers (VCSELs), used for 3D sensors and widely thought to be included in the new iPhone.
"IQE Chief Executive Officer Andrew Nelson declined to comment directly on whether the company is a supplier to Apple, but said in an interview that IQE has about 80 percent of the VCSEL wafer market and supplies 'pretty much all of the main players in the end markets.'
Because it's believed that IQE is an iPhone supplier for their new 3D sensing camera, their stock has risen by 314% this year."
