Foxconn's Terry Gou Announces Plan for a $10 Billion LCD Plant in Wisconsin Hiring 13,000 Workers at $53,000/year
This afternoon Foxconn Chairman Terry Gou announced that they'll be investing $10 billion dollars in the state of Wisconsin to make LCD displays up to 8K for the auto, healthcare and entertainment industries. Governor Walker said that Foxconn is the largest Jobs based program in the state's history creating as many as 13 thousand jobs. President Trump naysayers said back in December that the jobs would be minimum wage jobs. Today we learned that the average wage will be $53,000/yr. plus benefits, far from being minimum wage. It will take 10,000 construction workers to get the plant(s) built. The plant will eventually be 20 million square feet of factory, the largest ever created by a foreign company. Governor Walker even jested that the tech jobs coming to Wisconsin will kick start 'Wisconn Valley" – the Silicon Valley of the Midwest. The full event video is below.
