Apple and Unwired Planet have settled out of Court One Day before the Trial was set to Begin

1 Patently Legal News

In September 2012 Patently Apple posted a report titled "Say what? Unwired Planet Sues Apple for … Well … Everything!" In 2015 Patently Apple posted a second report on the matter titled "Apple wants Unwired Planet to pay $15 Million in Attorney Fees for Wasting their Time in Patent Infringement Case." Today The Intellectual Property Review reports that Apple has settled its patent infringement dispute with licensing company Unwired Planet just one day before trial was set to begin. This ended several years of litigation between the parties.

Yesterday, Apple and Unwired Planet informed Judge Vince Chhabria at the US District Court for the Northern District of California, San Francisco Division that they had reached a settlement and would be filing a stipulation of dismissal.

The same day, the parties filed a motion to dismiss the dispute, including claims for relief against Apple with prejudice, and Apple's claims, defenses or counterclaims for relief against Unwired Planet without prejudice.
