Oracle's CEO Safra Catz Joins President-Elect Trump's Transition Team

On Wednesday Patently Apple covered the story of President-elect Trump meeting with Silicon Valley's Elite including Tim Cook, Peter Thiel and Safra Catz which are shown in our cover graphic. Cook and Tesla's Elon Musk met with Trump privately after the meeting. The new business advisory council that will provide private-sector input to Trump after he takes office in late January.

 

Oracle's chief executive Safra Catz will join President-elect Donald Trump's transition team, an Oracle spokesperson told TechCrunch. Tesla's Musk, IBM's Rometty and PepsiCo's Indra Nooyi are on the council with Saftra Catz of Oracle being announced today. Although it's not on record officially, Cook meeting with Tim Cook privately with Elon Musk demonstrated that Cook will play a role in this council at some capacity.

 

According to TechCrunch, "Catz was the most outspokenly optimistic attendee prior to the meeting, saying, 'I plan to tell the President-elect that we are with him and are here to help in any way we can.'"

Catz added that she hoped Trump would reform the tax code, reduce regulation and negotiate trade deals that would benefit the tech community – all of which are on the President-elect's agenda.

 

Catz will remain in her role as CEO at Oracle while working on the transition. TechCrunch asked Oracle about the nature of Catz's role on the transition team and will update if the company provides further detail.

 

Contrary to the loonies of Silicon Valley, responsible tech leaders at Wednesday's meeting at Trump Tower were positive with Jeff Bezos stating that he was "super excited about the possibility that this could be the innovations administration."

 

Elon Musk introduced himself at the meeting this way: "Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, building rockets and cars and solar stuff in the U.S. I'm really excited about expanding our manufacturing footprint in the U.S."
