The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office officially published a series of 44 newly granted patents for Apple Inc. today. In this particular report we cover a MacBook design patent as well as utility patents for a woven display associated with a possible future Apple Watch, a teleprompter app for the iPad and more. We wrap up this week's granted patent report with our traditional listing of the remaining granted patents that were issued to Apple today.

Granted Patent: Woven Display

On December 3, 2015 Patently Apple posted a patent application report titled "Apple Reveals Future Smart Apple Watch Band that could Act as a Messaging Display." The patent covers Apple's work relating to fabric displays that could be used in a future smart Apple Watch band as noted in our cover graphic. The fabric could be made of magnetic and/or conducting fibers and incorporate light pipe fibers that act as light guides to visually display indications or messages to a user right on their Apple Watch band and beyond.

Granted Patent: Teleprompter Tool

On February 10, 2012, Patently Apple posted a patent application report titled "Apple to Add Teleprompter Tools to iMovie and Final Cut Pro." Sometime in the future you'll be able to both film yourself on an iPad while reading your very own script like the pros. This is Apple's second patent relating to future iReporter tools for iOS devices. Apple's patent technically provides a method for a media editing application that creates a composite presentation from several different media clips. The method provides a set of editing tools for editing the composite presentation. The method provides a voice-over tool for receiving text for a voice-over that includes a transcript for a voice-over audio clip to be recorded by the media editing application as a clip of the composite presentation. The method provides a display area for scrolling the text when recording the voice-over audio clip. The display area in some embodiments is a preview display area that scrolls the text while displaying a preview of the composite presentation when recording the voice-over audio clip.

Another granted patent of mild interest is patent 9,525,943 titled "Mechanically actuated panel acoustic system." The invention relates to an electronically controlled sound production system for use in a consumer electronics device, such as a desktop computer.

This isn't to be confused with Apple's quad speaker patent for the iPad which we covered back in March in a report titled "Apple's Quad Speaker iPad Pro Invention Comes to Light."
