Apple's iOS 10 Adoption Rate hits 55% in the U.S. in just Weeks
After only two and a half weeks, iOS 10 has surpassed all other versions of iOS to become Apple's most popular operating system while sailing past any OS version of Android OS in history. As you can see in the chart below which compares US iPhone users of iOS 10 to iOS 9, iOS 10 has a 55% to 45% advantage, respectively. Internationally, the numbers are 48% and 52% for iOS 10 and iOS 9, respectively. These figures are corroborated by Mixpanel as well. For more on this, read the full AppLovin report here.
In stark contrast, Google's own recent statistics that are noted below, show last year's Marshmallow release running on less than 19 percent of devices, with 35 percent running Lollipop and nearly 28 percent running KitKat. Some 15 percent of devices are still running 2012's Jelly Bean and 3 percent are using an even older version.
And lastly, even though Android's latest OS called Nougat has been out for a little over a month now, there's still no data about its adoption rate. It's likely a cringingly dismal number considering that Android-Marshmallow was released in October 2015 and it was only able to rack up 18.7% over the entire year.
