Just as a reminder, favored status for Apple iPhones and iPads on Cisco Systems networks starts later today, giving users better Wi-Fi roaming, integrated VoIP calls and priority for the most important business apps. It's about fast-tracking the mobile enterprise.

Cisco optimized how iPhone and iPad communicate with a Cisco wireless network. When you're at work and on the go, your iPhone or iPad will simply "know' what's the best available wireless access point for you—and will select it by default. This makes performance of all your apps, especially real-time apps like voice and video, much more reliable, particularly when you are on the move.

Cisco created a "fast lane" for business critical apps. No longer will you have to ask your coworker to lay off the cat videos while you're on a Cisco WebEx or Spark Call on your iOS device; your IT department can now effortlessly prioritize the apps most critical to your business, helping you get the job done from your mobile device.

The Cisco Spark on iPhone will be a seamless experience. Cisco Spark is our platform for the future of work, and now it is completely optimized for your iPhone and iPad. With Cisco Spark app installed on iOS 10 you'll be able to tap a contact in your address book and instantly make a VoIP call without having to launch a third-party app. The integration doesn't stop there, you'll also enjoy other native iOS calling features with Cisco Spark—calls will now ring on the lock screen, just like a regular call, users will have access to mute and call waiting. Even more conveniently you can now ask Siri to use Cisco Spark to call contacts in your People app.

Apple announced the new Cisco partnership just over a year ago. Apple's CEO Tim Cook stated in a press release that "iOS is the world's best mobile platform, and nearly every Fortune 500 and Global 500 company today has put iOS at the center of their mobile strategy. iPhone and iPad have become essential tools for the modern workforce and are changing the way work gets done. Together with Cisco, we believe we can give businesses the tools to maximize the potential of iOS and help employees become even more productive using the devices they already love."

At that time Cisco Executive Chairman John Chambers added that "Ninety-five percent of companies in the Fortune 500 count on Cisco Collaboration and Cisco networks to help their teams be more productive. Through this engineering and go-to-market partnership, we're offering our joint customers the ability to seamlessly extend that awesome Cisco environment to their favorite iOS devices. Together, we're going to help teams achieve higher levels of productivity and effectiveness."

With Apple's support, Cisco will deliver experiences specially optimized for iOS across mobile, cloud, and premises-based collaboration tools such as Cisco Spark, Cisco Telepresence and Cisco WebEx in order to deliver seamless team collaboration and reinvent the meeting experience.

And it all begins to roll out some time later today when iOS 10 is made available for download. Jonathan Rosenberg is a Cisco Fellow and Vice President and CTO for Cisco's Collaboration business and today he's written a blog entry dedicated to Cisco's collaboration with Apple's iOS rolling out today that you could find here.
