Yesterday the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) published Apple's latest registered trademark for "iCloud." For the record, Apple's iCloud was granted registered status back in July under international class 39. Yesterday USPTO granted Apple another registered trademark (RTM) for iCloud under International Class 009 which greatly expands its definition coverage.

Apple Updates International Classification Coverage 

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) granted Apple a Registered Trademark Certificate (RTM) for iCloud in July 2016 with a narrow definition under Class 039 as follows:

"electronic storage of data, text, images, audio and video; storage services for archiving electronic data; information and consultation therewith."

Today USPTO granted Apple an updated version of iCloud under International Class 009 which covers more detail as follows:

"computer software for use in uploading, downloading, storing, backing up, transmitting, receiving, accessing, retrieving, managing, organizing, and synchronizing data, email, documents, images, audio, video, multimedia content, electronic publications, computer files and other computer software; computer software for tracking the location of mobile digital electronic devices; computer software for use in accessing the Internet or other computer or communications networks; computer programs for personal information management; electronic mail and messaging software; database synchronization software; and database management software."

Apple's iCloud was given registered trademark status in Europe in 2015 with the most extensive coverage and expanded version of International Class 009 to date. Additional classes found in Apple's European RTM include 16, 25, 35, 37, 38 and 41 which could be reviewed in full here.
