For the First Half of 2016, MacBooks Shipments are Down 23%
In July we posted a report titled "Without a Mac Refresh, Apple's PC Shipments Fell the Steepest of all PC Vendors in Q2." Gartners report in July for PC shipments claimed that with the exception of Apple falling 9.3% in Q2 2016, North America PC Shipments actually increased for the first time in five quarters overall. This week TrendForce published a report specifically covering worldwide notebook shipments and as expected Apple was noted as being hit the hardest for the first half of 2016, down a whopping 23.4%. While the trend is likely to continue into Q3, Q4 is likely to see a sharp reversal when Apple introduces a new MacBook refresh, the first pro overhaul in four years that is likely to include a wild new GPU based on AMD's Polaris architecture. .
For the first half of the year, Apple is placed fifth worldwide with 7.9% market share with Asus close behind at 7.7% for the sixth spot. For more stats, see the full TrendForce report here. Windows remains the preferred PC in the world for desktops and notebooks.
